The purpose of this association shall be in accordance with and to help further promote the aims of the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE). To these ends the Association shall seek:

  1. To provide a professional association to which School Social Workers/Visiting Teachers of Georgia shall have membership.
  2. To establish and influence standards of professionalism and to promote and enhance professional growth of its members.
  3. To provide for the effective implementation of the duties and responsibilities of the School Social Workers/Visiting Teachers as provided for by law and policies of the State Board.
  4. To develop and affect changes in administrative policies and procedures in order to clarify and facilitate a desirable role for the School Social Work/Visiting Teacher.
  5. To promote closer cooperation among all agencies and school personnel serving the child.
  6. To promote measures for personal and professional welfare of the membership in cooperation with GAE.
